Making a robot to carve photo real pumpkins #ElectronicHalloween

Stuff Made Here makes some of the whackiest over-engineered projects on the tube. Its exciting to see how much thought and work they put into less serious projects. Have you carved your pumpkins yet? Via YouTube

I’ve been wondering if I could turn my haircut robot into a pumpkin carving robot. Cutting hair and carving pumpkins isn’t really that different if you think about it – both cut stuff off a roughly pumpkin sized spheroid. In this video I do just that and carve some pretty amazing pumpkins with it. This was a bit of a sprint to get done – I can’t wait until next year to make even more insane pumpkins with it!

Day of the dead mask #3DThursday #3DPrinting

NewImage

Shared by TheMaker77 on Thingiverse:

Designed by a very talented game designer friend of mine, this beautiful day of the dead mask will suit any day of the dead festival ! decorate as you please, wear with pride and show off to all family and friends.

This design features a head and separate jaw that can be brought together with a hinging mechanism of your choice, providing you with a dynamic mask design to wow anyone and all. The files of the mask are rather large and I found that printing the mask at 60% scale allowed for a perfect fit for a head size that has an ear to ear dimension of 170mm and a chin to top of head dimension of 250mm.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

Ghostly Pumpkin Zeotrope #ElectronicHalloween #4-Mation #3DPrinting

A 3d printed zeotrope (or 4-mation) of ghosts and pumpkins. Shared by Mike Rigsby on Hackaday.io:

Of course the “flashing bars” don’t appear in real life. An Arduino with a motor shield is used to control a bipolar stepper motor and led light strings. The twelve inch diameter turntable rotates at about 60 rpm (one revolution per second). The turntable is divided into 20 sections and a ghost/pumpkin is placed on each section. The led’s are “flashed” every 1/20 of a second to provide the illusion of movement.

I did four Ghostbusters proton packs for
the whole family, Ecto Goggles and a PKE Meter, all powered by Adafruit
products. I also did the 3D Printed trap based on Sean Charlesworth’s design
that you had covered in the blog already, and which contains various
Adafruit products. I did some modifications to add NeoPixels, my favorite!

#3DPrinted Spider Web Earrings #ElectronicHalloween #WearableWednesday

NewImage

We’d rock these earrings from Penolopy Bulnick on Instructables any day of the year!

I was looking at Halloween jewelry when I came across a pair of spider web earrings. They made me really want to make a design of my own. So after some tests, I came up with a simple 3D printable spider web design that allowed for a bead to dangle off the bottom and cutouts for rhinestones.

This Jack Skellington Halloween Head is Assembled from Two Dozen 3D-Printed Parts | #ElectronicHalloween

bermantdesigns has a few Jack Skellington designs (including the finger tip glove extenders) on their Thingiverse profile and this version was recently reworked to make it more breathable. If you begin today printing one part per day you’ll still have a few days (including an entire weekend) to finish the exterior and pad the interior.

I redesigned my prior Jack Skellington head to make it more breathable with the mouth and nose. The bottom hole for the head has also been expanded to fit better. Don’t quote me on if it will fit perfectly some adjusting may still be needed after printing. Supports will be needed for the mouth and a little around the eye sockets. Enjoy.
