The DARKSABER (a collapsing sword prop!) #3DPrinting #Timelapse

yeetkus shares:

And after watching season 2 of the Mandalorian I decided that a LIGHTsaber wouldn’t cut it. So I got to work. First I printed out 3DPRINTINGWORLD’s collapsing Sith Lightsaber so that I could take some measurements and get a feel for settings I would have to use to make a saber of my own. I then reverse engineered my own circular lightsaber, mirrored it, and made Darth Maul’s dual bladed lightsaber. Then finally after 5 or so different Fusion 360 files and about 22 different iterations on the final one to get a product I was happy with. I really wanted a saber with sharp faceted edges, a sleek overall feel, and something that was… darker.

Although the idea of a collapsing sword wasn’t mine this saber however. was completely made from scratch. However as mentioned I will credit 3DPRINTINGWORLD for the idea and some of the base measurements that I took from his printed file (not the digital one). The specific file I printed was this one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3668138

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

Ez Arduino 12 DOF Quadruped Robot – Robot Dog Lassie #3DPrinting #Timelapse

manic-3d-print shares:

Since Boston Dynamics releases the quadruped robot – Spot, making robot dog has been very popular. There are number of attempts to build similar robot. Most are expensive and very difficult to follow and to make one. This instructable is trying to deliever a DIY version with 3D printing using very cheap hardware and electonic components. It should be affordable for everyone to build one easily, watch the assembly videos at step 6 – 8. This robot is controlled and played by using smartphone, see the software section to download the app.

Zack Freedman Uses Every 3D Filament

Long but highly entertaining video from Zack Freedman on YouTube:

To celebrate my silver play button, I blew $1,000 out of my hot end! This is the longest and most expensive video on the channel; I bought almost 50 spools of all kinds of filament, and made a boat out of all but one of them.

Pocket Blade Disposal Case #3Dprinting #3DThursday

mishkin2 shared this project on Thingiverse!

The idea was stolen from Olfa DC-5. I just felt sorry to pay $9. Besides, the DC-5 is too big to put in my pocket, and I have an alternative – in my pocket or a belt mount.

Holster style blade disposal container makes easy work of blade disposal.
A convenient way to safely dispose of dull blade edges, the portable Blade Disposal Holster can fits easily in your pocket or be attached to a belt or a tool-bag. It features two blade-snapping locations to accommodate various hand positions when snapping and disposing a dull blade segment. Simply slide the blade into a snap-slit and snap the blade for a new, sharp edge. The snapped segment will then safely dispose into the container.
